Why is it not more common in many evangelical churches to see members open their homes to share a meal on the Lord's Day. I have found that a number of church goers will often meet a a restaurant. I am under the conviction that the Sabbath is reserved for work that fall under acts of mercy and acts of necessity. Eating is an act of necessity, but eating at a restaurant is causing others to work. Thoughts?

Re: An Ordinary Pastor’s Study

I liked the title of the article and hoped to find some good ideas I could copy. I've used the Apple version of Logos for years and have no problems with it - nor do I notice any difference between it and what I used in my Windows days. However, my workhorse app for study is Bible Works. They are still working on a version for Mac, so I use the Windows version through VM Ware on my Mac - it is the only reason I ever fire up Windows on my Mac. Think about what I just said - I run Windows on my Mac when I have to...another reason you should switch.

I have no...NO regrets about switching. I would recommend it.

Re: Why I’m Still a Mac Fan

Question: I've been using the Windows version of Logos for years, and the only reason I haven't switched to a Mac is because I keep hearing that the Apple version of Logos is not as good as the Windows version. I noticed that you use Logos. Did you experience any problems with Logos when you converted from Windows to Mac?

Re: Practicalities of Discipling One Another

Adam, thanks for the comment. I think that I am kinda the guy who likes to be busy with ministry stuff and my Bible study on Thursday nights (I go to Bethany Baptist Church where Craig Bowen pastors), but I neglect my daily Bible reading and prayer. I would love to study the Bible in seminary and maybe a pastor or a prof or something, but I neglect the basic things like Bible study and prayer. It's really very pathetic! I'm trying to memorize Romans 8 with one guy from my Bible study, but I just don't really do much of anything consistently, not even that. The bottom line is discipline motivated by love for Jesus wanting to know Him. I loose the passion! I'm always loosing it! Just thought that I would do a little personal reflection related to your post. Thanks again for sharing!

Re: Why I’m Still a Mac Fan

Thanks for the reply. The oldest is almost six years - no problems, running beautifully for Kel. Spread the cost over those years, not to mention the time saved in not messing with the Windoze machines, and I think it all evens out. But again, I understand the cost issue.

Re: Why I’m Still a Mac Fan

Last November, I bought a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8 and feel like I took a huge step backwards. I am seriously struggling with buyers remorse. My wife says, "I don't know if I could handle this computer for the next three years. Send it back!" Unfortunately they only have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. If only Macs weren't so expensive I'd convert instantly...

Re: How Will You Read Your Bible This Year?

I'm finding the Discipleship plan you recommend to be very helpful. I miss our fellowship together. I too have let my blog take a back seat, especially since I started teaching at Cal Baptist a couple years ago. Just had to let something give. I went from 2-3 posts per week to about once a month. I think I made the right decision, but still miss this medium of communication. I look forward to reading your posts.

Re: An Ordinary Pastor’s Study

Thank you for this. I am always looking for ways to maximise my study time and my study space. I use what was designed to be a dining room. It works well spacewise but I need to somehow come up with a way to close it off so I can have some privacy both for study and counseling. I don&#039t have an office at the church so I need to perform a number of functions in my home study..

Re: Bible Reading Plans

For many years I have used a reading schedule that included a little Old Testament, a little New Testament, a small section of Proverbs and a small section of Psalms every day. However, Dawson introduced us to a reading program designed by Professor Grant Horner, an Associate Professor at The Master&#039s College, that has the Scripture divided in 10 different reading lists, so one is reading 10 chapters, from the respective lists, everyday. So far I&#039m really enjoying the change....just wanted to share another option. :)

Re: 2010 Capranica Christmas

Keep watching this evening

Re: 2010 Capranica Christmas

You really are too technologically nerdy.
